This 14 yr old was making a two handed touch and turn in his IM (individual medley) for the summer park swim team prelims yesterday morning...He will go for the gold in the finals tonight. Oh yeh, I forgot to mention that he is my grandson Matt.

The Birds...Yesterday afternoon John told me "quick grab your camera". Literally hundreds of birds were swooping and landing here and there in the front yard and neighborhood. Not sure what they were eating but it was quite is sight. Reminded me of the old Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds.

Moving Right Along...Halloween was here and gone and it is time to start thinking about pictures to use with our Christmas cards...The Grandboys were over yesterday to help Grandpa and me with all the leaves in the backyard. It was jumping time and I was able to settle them down for a few quick pictures with Libby. This was my favorite of the bunch and top on my list for the Christmas card---so far.

Chief Pontiac...Yesterday John and I went to the Woodward Dream Cruise. This little beauty caught my eye but it's Amber Hood Ornament, in my opinion, was the best part. It was attached to a 1950 Pontiac 2 dr Chieftain. The amber lights up when the headlights are on. It was available as an option on all models.

Estes Lake reflecting the Rocky Mountains in the background. Today we drove from Estes Park to Vail, Co. via the Trail Ridge Rd. It was an amazing drive through the mountains. We saw a moose and several herds of elk.

Duck Eggs...we found these duck eggs in the nature center this week when the 2nd graders were doing spring clear-up. The chairs were there when we came out so we expect that someone else knew they were there and had put the chairs in place to protect the nest.

Barn Kitten...This little guy kept an eye on us as we wandered through his barn. He never approached any of us, but was very curious.

Finally...I've been stalking this guy for three days and finally got a useable photo of him. He lives in the nature preserve near the home we are renting and I have heard him and sort of seen him several times but my pictures of him had been not much more than a blob up until now. Please look at him in the larger formats so you can really see him.

$Sept 27, 2009 Maroon Bells...The Maroon Bells is a mountain in the Elk Mountains. It consiste of 2 peaks the South Maroon Peak and the North Maroon Peak separated by about 1/3 mile. They are both over 14,000 ft. and located about 12 miles southwest of Aspen, Colorado. They got the name The Deadly Bells in 1965 when 8 people died in five separate accidents. They are composed of a metamorphic sedimentary mudstone which is weak and fractures easily making it dangerous to try to climb.$

We were at my son and daughter-in-law's house for dinner last night.. .while evening lights are always beautiful reflecting in their lake, just think how pleased I was to be presented with this fantastic rainbow overhead. It stayed there for the longest time. I took about 20 or 30 pictures of it, but I won't make you look at all of them...

Resting in a Fog...I took this one a few months back and during an overhall of my files yesterday I found it unprocessed in raw form. I almost deleted it because that was the mode I was in (cleaning up and getting rid of junk) Anyway I decided to take five and see what it was...I kind of liked it, because of the fog, and so you have it today for my daily.

Josephine Ford Play House...on the grounds of the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House. I didn't get to go inside on this occasion, but years ago I did and it is set up like a regular house, with the exception that everything is built on a 2/3 scale.

It draws 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars from around the globe. Organizers initally expected 30 to 40,000 people to come to the August 1995 inaugral cruise. About 250,000 actually showed up.

Giant hayloft inside the "Wegner Farm" barn. This was by far the best farm that we visited on our tour. The Gentleman who owned this farm came out to talk to us while we were taking the first pictures. He was sooo nice and even invited us into the barn to see his horses. He raises Clydesdales and had two 6 to 8 week old foals. My photos didn't turn out great of the foals but I will add them to the gallery when I post it.

It's Raining Leaves...All it took was one morning for our beautiful Japanese Red Maple to go from wonderful fall follage to bare for winter. It was kind of fun watching it happen.

"Unconditional Surrender"... John Seward Johnson ll created a life-size bronze statue in 2005. It was based on on the photo "Kiss The War Goodbye". The original statue was place in New York City's Times square. Twenty -five foot versions were constructed in aluminum and placed in San Diego, Ca, Snug Harbor, NY and Sarasota, Fl. The statues are described as "kisch" by art critics and have drawn heated controversy about their suitability.
